It exists, you just can't access it.
The last post from Bruce was on the 29th and he still had WIFI
Remarkably, I still have wifi. The local radar indicates the eye is about 90% on land. The trailing edge is still over water. The discussion indicates the forward movement had stopped and is kinda wobbeling so direction is now uncertain. Motion is expected to slowly resume in a near northerly direction. There is a chance that both my home and boat with both see the eye of this storm. I am about 25 miles due north of the eye's eastmost edge. My baronometer has dropped to 29.7 inches of mercury. Winds are variable high teens to lower 30s. And it is raining in bibilical proportions. Water had come up several feet in the last 5 hours that I was sleeping. Water is over the finger pier and has flooded the parking lot. I'm still riding good. My lines have me centered in the slip. I still have shore power and wifi. Boat rocking and rolling but movement is gentle. I don't have anything that needs doing, so I'm gonna go back to sleep until the 10:00 forcast update.
Buddy texted me on the 29th around 0630 saying "shoulda bought that generator." I clled him back and they are safe, intact but have no electricity.

There's nothing after BEM's post but well wishes for those affected, which is good.

I just got off the horn to Buddy.
He's been removing a, what sounds like, a large tree that gave up it's roots. Post storm tree and limb clean up.
A friend brought him a couple generators from Baton Rouge... and then the power came back on.
But he kept hold of the generators just in case.
Melissa went to check on a friend in Baton Rouge.
They are both in good spirits and doing well considering.

and that's the latest news.

I'm OK, boat OK, home OK, and all of family OK.

I rode out storm on boat to tend lines. Wife and youngest son rode out storm at home. Had much water, about a 8-10 foot tidal surge in marina. Had maximum wind gusts in the low 70s. It really screams. For my location, the backside of the storm as it moved inland was far worse that the initial approach. Water down, but still high. Got electricity back on Thurday. Still no wifi. That may be a while since the marina office flooded. Can't take boat out for a while. The nearby bridge to lake flooded and cannot open. 1 boat sunk in Beau Chene Mariina in Mandeville. I put sails back on today except for staysail. I need to repair sail cover. I dropped my phone so no cell phone access.

Home OK. Got electricity back Friday. Got cable, internet access, and land line phone back today.

The New Orleans Power Squadron that I belong to flooded. They have a temporary trailer since loosing building in Katrina and that is now flooded. This is a bit of a heartbreaker.

There was a lot of flooding on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The rivers continue to be problematic including 2 dams that are threatening to fail. Plus, many homes in the town of Laplace are flooded. Power outages are widespread and numerous.

Sorry for the delay in update. I had no internet access. I spoke to Buddy, he is OK, plus Mac, he is OK too.
