Dear Mr. Doran
When I first met you at the St Pete's boat show last year I thought you were a guy with some cool ideas. Now that you have been at the helm of Lats and Atts I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the changes you brought on.

Now I can truly say that I hope we can meet again so I can properly share with you how I feel. What you have accomplished over the last few months is amazing. I honestly would never thought you or anyone else for that matter was capable of doing what you have done. My sincerest hope is that someday you will be properly rewarded for all the hard work and effort that has went into the first few months of your tenure.

Now I know there are a FEW critics out there who are saying what is in your mind a miss-characterization of what you have accomplished. And believe me if I were inclined to believe any of these rumors I definitely was swayed by your brilliant move at shutting down a little forum that I'm sure you were convinced was so subversive and harmful to you. Now those few (and I'm sure it's just a few) people who were telling their stories are completely and finally silenced.

Now is the time for you to move forward. might I suggest a relaxing trip on your boat to some remote anchorage where you can rest in peace, if you don't know of any off hand I'm sure I or a few of my friends could suggest someplace. or perhaps what you really need is a refreshing trip to a boat show. Now seriously think about it, visiting a boat show is just the thing you need. So get out among the people who have come to know you with such an emotional connection, who only truly want to see you properly rewarded for your labors. Heck tell me which show you like and I my self will help put together a wonderful party where you can properly be appreciated by those of us who really can see what you have been trying to do.

Now keep your chin up and remember Karma is a cool thing. Until we have a chance to meet in person...
Your local boat fan and magazine reader

BTW this is the letter I am sending to DJ

now, that would make the trip to a boat show well worth the motorcycle ride in rain sleet or snow!!!!

Let's not get ourselves in trouble. If something were to happen to Mr. Doran anything said here could be construed to be premeditation.

Or a warning the was unheeded.

I'm just going to cut to the bottom line.
These negative posts toward Mr. Doran serve only no purpose but to drag us down to his level of vindictiveness. I say we should "cease and desist" the insults and innuendo toward this individual simply for the sake of lessening any aggravation toward Bob et al.
Yes, we all have a negative opinion, deservedly so toward Mr. Doran. We all have opinions and we all have a dislike toward him and his actions but I do think we should rise above that and let the legal parties that are fighting our good fight do what they know how to do.
I understand the annoyance with Mr. Doran et al, but I do think that the personal insults aren't a good thing for our cause.
Our cause is the right to run a forum dedicated to the Cruising and sailing lifestyle without vindictive constricts and petty legal cease and desist bullshit.
Our forum wasn't doing any harm to anyone. IT was a collective of like minded people sharing knowledge and ideas and love and help and fun and life sharing.
Telling us to "CEASE AND DESIST" is censorship and a flat out communist action.

And this will fall on deaf ears as it's simply an opinion and the person that should read it will not read it.

So what the fuck ever

The bottom line is, let's let Bob fight his fight and shall we not refer to Doran or hi accomplices any more on this forum.

I am very sorry this has happened. Our lawyer received a "Cease and Desist" order from DJ Doran, the former publisher of Latitudes & Attitudes. It seem he still wants to fuck with us. If you have any comments you'd like to send him, his email is: dj@sextantpublishing.com.

so I think Bob said it best

Here's a toast to those of us still here, and to Bob! May this all soon be over so we can focus on cruising.

On the one hand I agree. It may be better just to sit quietly and let the legal folks do their jobs without making it any harder for them.

On the other hand, this is the internet, and rants like this are common and nobody takes them seriously (unless, of course, they get very specific). A "come in and vent your frustration" board, such as this one, could be healthy.

Frankly, as a matter of fact, if I were Mr. Doran's shoes, all of the angry talk wouldn't bother me. It's the folks with the means who aren't venting who would scare the shit out of me. The ones who are amazingly pissed but don't want any motives to appear publicly. You know, the guy who quietly just brought a box of contractor bags onto his boat.

Doesn't this person still have a boat? He should worry about quiet types with waterproof hole cutters and a scuba certification
