Working to get the boat setup for the trip. This week I replaced the old boom with a new Seldon boom with single line reefing. New coach roof traveler which gets the old traveler out of the cockpit. All lines will now be led to the cockpit to a new Seldon winch. Also she is setup for a boom vang which I did not have before. Stack pack from Doyle sails is on the way.

The plan is to leave Massachusetts at the end of September. Head directly to Cape May, NJ or Norfolk, VA. Then depending on the weather either inside or outside. Hangout in the Keys until the end of January and then a few months in the Bahamas.

Looks like Leslie is taking a turn to the northwest. Not time to put more lines on yet.

If I am not mistaken, you are in Westport Ma ? We chatted several years ago off the old L & A bulletin bvoard. I was there several years ago at Tripps with my Vagabond 47 - Great place to spend the summer.

I have made that run south (then north again) several times - outside is definitely best but watch for wind with any easterly component - thats when it can get nasty -- Esp around Cape Fear which has kicked my butt every time even with a good weather window. . . I helped a friend deliver from Wakefield RI south this past spring - For the first time We went inside around Cape Fear - Beautiful streach of the ICW from Beaufort to Cape Fear inlet -- but man it took a long time -- stay outside if you can. He went on to Corpus Tx, but I got off in Florida - Once past the 3 Carolina Capes its usually a comfortable ride along the eddys from there south.

Safe travels and fair winds
Steve

Yes, I'm in Westport and work part time operating the harbor launch at Tripp's. Last time I went directly to Cape May, NJ, up the Delaware, C&D to Annapolis. This time crew wants to stop at Block Island, RI, Shinnecock, LI, Atlantic city, NJ Then maybe to Norfolk, Va.

Just need some tweaking on the new equipment and then will be ready to take off. Tentitive date is October 13. Will update the software in the Raymarine C-80 today.

Getting a bit cold up there then!
I noticed the ducks flew south from New York City about September 10th, the geese a day or so later.... And so I headed south on the 14th sept.
Now in Oriental, North Carolina and yesterday crossed the latitude line of Cape Hatterss, inboard of it, and the temperature SPRANG up!! It's now warm and wonderful!!!

Today to Morehead city which I won't stop as I was a week in Beaufort before New York.
